High risk of avalanches in Lapland

According to FMI the risk of avalanches is high in ski centers of Lapland.

Meteorologist Kaisa Halkola says that risk will reduce to moderate at end of the week, due to cooling weather.

Vanhanen pleads Russia in wood tariffs

Prime minister Matti Vanhanen has pleaded Russia’s PM Viktor Zubkov to solve issue of wood tariffs between EU and Russia.
Next Tuesday Russia is going to increase wood tariffs to 15 euros per cubic meter. Beginning of next year tariff is supposed to be 50 euros per cubic meter, which would effectively terminate importing wood to Finland and EU from Russia.
