Liter of milk going to hit 1 euro mark
According to manager of Valio - Annikka Hurme, one liter of milk is going to cost around 1 euro in May this year. Valio is a manufacturer of various milk products.
According to Mrs. Hurme, increase of price will most clearly be seen in products like cheese, where 1 kg of cheese takes around 10 litres of milk to produce. Mrs. Hurme was interviewed by newspaper Aamulehti.
Valio has lifted price of milk 17,5 percent in last 1,5 years to sustain milk producing in Finland. Production of milk in Finland is rapidly declining - last year around 1000 milk producing farms closed, now the number of milk producers in Finland is 12700.
