Vanhanen pleads Russia in wood tariffs
Prime minister Matti Vanhanen has pleaded Russia’s PM Viktor Zubkov to solve issue of wood tariffs between EU and Russia.
Next Tuesday Russia is going to increase wood tariffs to 15 euros per cubic meter. Beginning of next year tariff is supposed to be 50 euros per cubic meter, which would effectively terminate importing wood to Finland and EU from Russia.
The decision has major impacts to finnish paper industry and finnish employment rate - companies of the branch have already closed down several plants in Finland.
